THE i4

THE FIRST-EVER FULLY-ELECTRIC GRAN COUPÉ.

The first all-electric Gran Coupé, the BMW i4 delivers outstanding dynamics with a high level of comfort and the ideal qualities to make it your daily driver. The five-door model comes equipped with fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology for sporty performance figures – reaching up to 400 kW/544 hp (BMW i4 M50). With a long range of up to 483km* (BMW i4 eDrive35) and five spacious full-sized seats, it is the perfect companion for any journey.

THE BMW i4 eDRIVE35 DELIVERS A RANGE OF UP TO 483 KM.*

Thanks to the interplay of an efficient drivetrain concept, lightweight construction, aerodynamic design, and a powerful high-voltage battery, the BMW i4 reaches ranges of up to 483 kilometres* (BMW i4 eDrive35). Innovative technologies, such as brake energy recovery, help to extend the range and reduce energy consumption to 18.7 to 15.8 kWh/100 km.

THE EXTERIOR HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BMW i4.

Front design. The vertically aligned kidney of the BMW i4 extends from the unique BMW i front apron. Instead of cooling air, the kidney, with its strikingly patterned structure, conceals state-of-the-art sensor technology that supplies the vehicle with real-time data.
Side view. The aerodynamically optimised silhouette of the BMW i4 is an extension of the classic BMW Coupé proportions: A long wheelbase with short overhangs and a flowing roofline define its sporty, elegant lines.
Rear design. Sharply cut vertical aero lips close off the BMW i4 to the side, while the expressively designed diffuser elements emerge from below – accentuated by a blue trim frame, typical for BMW i.

INTERIOR HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BMW i4.

Driver-oriented cockpit. The very sleek and flat instrument panel sets the tone for the modern appearance of the BMW i4's interior. The high centre console provides a sporty feel and defines a separate area for the driver and front passenger.
BMW Curved Display. The new BMW Curved Display in the BMW i4 combines the 12.3" instrument cluster with the large 14.9" Control Display to create a modern display unit that curves ergonomically towards the driver.
5 seats spaciousness. A full-fledged five-seater, the BMW i4 offers space for up to three people in the rear. Generous headroom and legroom ensure excellent seating comfort for all.

Why do the ranges vary?

Close

The respective range of an electric vehicle depends on various factors such as driving style, route conditions, vehicle equipment, weather conditions and payload.

In detail

Close

High average speeds (highway) reduce the range most significantly, while inner-city traffic leads to a higher range due to lower speed and higher recuperation shares (in contrast to vehicles with internal combustion engines). Furthermore, the range is reduced at low temperatures due to heating, and high temperatures with strong air conditioning. Regarding the special features/equipment, the selection of larger tire combinations generally reduces the range (if the aerodynamic disadvantage is not compensated for by a more closed wheel design). The rolling resistance class of tires is also relevant for the range: e.g. the use of a winter tire reduces the range compared to a Label A summer tire.

General range specification and range values in this indicator

Close

In the model selection, the communicated range is based on the WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light-Duty Test Procedure) cycle.

WLTP enables a calculation of the range under prescribed driving conditions. WLTP assumes a defensive driving style with a route mix of city streets, country roads and highways.

The range indicator enables you to estimate the range under your typical driving conditions. The outer circle represents the calculated range value based on linear distances (not the actual street map), while the inner circle shows the calculated value -30% to take the real-life routes into account.

What are the assumptions underlying the driving style settings?

Close

Setting a "sporty" driving style assumes 100% highway driving with an average speed of approximately 130 km/h and a dynamic overtaking style. The "economical" setting assumes defensive driving on country roads with an average speed of around 80 km/h. Settings in between produce a mixture of both.

CHARGING TIMES FOR 100 KM RANGE.

The calculation takes into account consumption and charging performance. Values refer to 29-33 degrees Celsius battery start and ambient temperature with certification values excluding additional auxiliary consumers such as seat heating, displays, air conditioning. Individual consumption may vary (depending on e.g. driving profile, temperature, ambient conditions) as well as the individually achievable charging performance (depending on e.g. battery state of charge, vehicle air conditioning). Consumption is based on WLTP best case. Charging performance is based on the maximum possible charging performance (depending on charging type and vehicle).

CHARGING THE BMW i4: EASIER THAN EVER.

Charging the BMW i4 couldn't be easier. The Connected Charging service helps you find the nearest charging station along your route, so you can charge your BMW i4 when you need to – and go from a 10 to 80% charge in just 32 minutes with up to 180 kW of charging power. Or you recharge up to 128 km range in only 10 minutes (up to 140km in 10 minutes for i4 M50). At home, you have the convenience of using your BMW Wallbox. With up to 11 kW, it brings the battery of the BMW i4 back to 100% charge in just 7 hours.
